There are certain factors that affect a badminton player’s performance. However, there are a few things you could do to avoid bad performances during badminton games.

1. Sufficient Rest

Get enough rest. It’s essential in helping you deliver peak performance during your badminton games. It’s quite impossible to concentrate when you’re feeling drowsy and tired.

Unlike other sports, concentration and reflex action is very important in badminton – the shuttlecock is capable of flying at 300 km/h! You will need quick reflex to retrieve your opponent’s shots.

Ensure you have at least 8 hours of sleep every night in order to deliver your best performance on the court.

2. Stay Hydrated – before, during and after your sessions

Water is vital to the everyday functions of a human body. Lack of water makes you dehydrated. A mild dehydration could make you lethargic, lose concentration and might also cause a mild headache.

Make sure you drink around 8 glasses of water every day. Besides these 8 glasses, make sure you also drink more during exercise.

3. Have a Meal Before Your Game

I can’t play badminton well when I’m hungry. What about you? You need energy to move around the badminton court. The only way you’re getting energy is from the food you consume.

When your body has all the energy it needs to burn, you’ll be able to move and strike faster, delivering all you can, physically. However, make sure you eat your meal around 90 minutes before you play to allow time for digestion. If you are feeling lack of energy in the middle of your games, you could always have energy bars or sports drinks to power you up.

4. Quit bad habits

If you’re serious about badminton and if you want to perform at your peak, you should quit smoking and drinking.

Smoking in general is harmful to your lungs. In terms of sports, it affects your fitness level dramatically. If you smoke, you might experience having less stamina compared to non-smokers. Drinking on the other hand affects your reflexes.

Social drinkers will probably not experience the effects of alcohol whereas hardcore drinkers will be greatly affected. If your reflex ability is slow, you’re not going to be able to retrieve a high speed shot.

The Fundamentals of a Good Golf Swing

In learning golf, the fundamental movement of a good golf swing consists of bringing the club behind your head and swinging it down to hit the golf ball. After hitting the ball, the swing continues up until the golf club sits on top of the opposite shoulder.

1. Grip – This is very basic since getting a good grip or strong hold on everything gives excellent performance especially for a golf swing. The best pivot is a basic weight shift from one side to the other. You use this weight shift to push the ball forward.

4. Back Swing and Forward swing – There are two parts of a golf swing: the first part is the back swing and the second part, the forward swing. When doing the backswing, you take your grip, set yourself up and your hands in the club and then swing it behind your shoulders. While with the forward swing, you take your arms and you just swing the club at your target.

Serving Consistently in Volleyball

When you first learn to serve the first thing you will want to focus on is creating a routine that you do each time you serve the exact same way. When you change the way you serve during a match it becomes more difficult to create control and harder to maintain consistency.

Spending time creating a serving routine that is comfortable to you will make it easier for your body to create muscle memory; this will allow you to serve the same way each time without even thinking about it. Try to implement different techniques you learn that work best for you and stick to those same techniques until you master your serve.

When you are first setting up your serving routine the first thing you will want to notice is the serving line. Some people have a tough time serving behind the line and if you don’t start early it can make your serve miserable.

If you cross or even touch the line with your toe before you jump and serve the ball then the other team will automatically be awarded the point. Being aware of the serving line when designating a serving routine will make it much easier to serve constantly down the road.

If you can make your serving routine one fluid motion you will notice you have more control. You will want to work on moving forward, throwing the ball, and then hitting it all in one motion.

When you are able to have the timing down to know how high to throw the ball and how high to jump, your serve will be much more consistent. It is important to realize that you hit with you strong hand and throw the ball up with the opposite hand.

The serving line will dictate how far back you start the fluid motion of your serve. As you become more comfortable with your serving routine you will be able to focus more on placing the ball and generating more power behind each serve.

It can be very tricky to learn exactly how high to throw the ball and when to jump to ensure that you aren’t waiting on the ball as you jump to hit it. When you have to wait for the ball to come down you lose the momentum you had from moving forward and jumping at the same time.
